Workshop on Internet Trust, Reputation, Identity and Privacy

Issues of individual trust in the use of personal data, the reputation of online services and users, and identity management tools are never far from the headlines. EINS is organising a one-day workshop on 4 December to bring together university and industry researchers working on these topics. Co-located with Social Informatics 2012 in Lausanne, it will have a particular focus on multidisciplinary perspectives that bring together researchers in the humanities and social sciences with mathematicians, engineering and physical scientists.

National Science Foundation interdisciplinary work on Internet architecture

The involvement of lawyers and economists as well as computer scientists (see Nebula team members: http://nebula.cis.upenn.edu/members.html) should be of great interest for the European Internet Science community. EINS member Jonathan Cave recently attended a NEBULA workshop at UPenn."In the summer of 2010, NSF funded four projects as a part of this program.

Internet Scientists author chapters in new 'Research Handbook On Governance Of The Internet'

Edited by Ian Brown, University of Oxford, UK: http://www.e-elgar.com/bookentry_main.lasso?currency=UK&id=14173 Contributors include JRA4 members Alison Powell, Lee Bygrave, Jonathan Cave and Chris Marsden.This Handbook provides a comprehensive overview of the latest research on Internet governance, written by the leading scholars in the field. With an international focus, it features contributions from lawyers, economists and political scientists across North America, Europe and Australia.

Recent Advances in Networking : Call for ebook chapters

Professors often rely on textbooks to teach undergraduate and graduate networking courses. While there are many good introductory textbooks, there are very few books on advanced networking topics that could be suitable to advanced graduate courses in networking. To fill this gap, SIGCOMM Education Committee launches a community project to develop a high-quality, open-source, edited ebook on “Recent Advances in Networking”.

JRA4/6 workshop Torino NEXA 10-11 September

JRA4 is organising an internal workshop in Torino at NEXA on 10 September, with guest speaker Rudolf van der Berg from the OECD, who will discuss regimes for regulating IP interconnection and M2M mobile communication. JRA6 is organising an internal workshop at the same venue with the same host on 11 September. Anyone not in these JRAs who wishes to attend should contact Chris Marsden, JRA leader, in the first instance.
